Loretta Lipworth - Chair
Loretta is a Site Administrator for a leading international infrastructure group, an aspiring Design Manager and a career-changer with over 10 years’ experience designing and building sets for the film and TV industry.
First-hand experience of the highs and lows of making a major career change has given Loretta a particular interest in how the construction industry attracts new talent, from school-leavers to those with many years of transferable skills and knowledge.
Moreover, Loretta has gained a keen appreciation of the necessity for diversity and access to development pathways in the workplace through her experience working and living around the globe.
Connecting with groups like NAWIC and attending seminars, CPD and networking events has been crucial every step of the way, and Loretta looks forward to developing the NAWIC North-West region to continue creating these and other fantastic opportunities.
WHAT IS THE VISION FOR NAWIC NW?
The NW region welcomes members and visitors from all backgrounds including students, tradespeople, legal professionals, architects, designers and supply chain partners. We recognise that everybody has a part to play in the construction industry of the future and embrace the many irrespective of gender, generation or background.

Laura Padgett - Deputy Chair & Internal Memberships Co-ordinator
Laura has worked in Construction and Property recruitment for over 10 years and currently runs the Manchester office for Blayze Group, a specialist recruitment business in the Construction and Property market.
Laura has a passion for driving new and transferable skills into the industry as well as supporting clients with the retention of their employees through leadership and development training.
Having attended many networking events and seminars over the years, Laura is keen to work with NAWIC to establish a North West platform for networking and skills development that is truly proactive about supporting the attraction and retention of great talent in this wonderful industry.
Interests include: Most of my time is taken up with my two sons, ferrying them from various sporting tournaments to kids’ parties and the like, but when I get time to myself, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling and eating out.
Jennifer Fisher – PR & Marketing Co-ordinator
Jennifer is the Marketing Manager for specialist Construction and Property Recruitment firm Building Careers UK, and is based in the heart of Liverpool.
Jennifer has a passion for all things marketing and communications; from social media to content and branding, and is keen to ensure NAWIC is on the map across the North West.
Having seen the talent this industry has to offer first hand through her involvement in recruitment processes and networking events at BCUK, she’s passionate about promoting construction as an exciting career choice with unlimited potential for more women and young people.
Sahar Mahmood - Events Co-ordinator
Sahar is a Solicitor with JMW Solicitors. She specialises in defending individuals and businesses being investigated and prosecuted by the police and regulatory bodies. She has a particular focus on representing those being prosecuted by the Health and Safety Executive and has represented clients in this regard from a variety of sectors including the construction industry. The majority of her clients are SME’s or individual Directors.
Sahar understands the impact these investigations and prosecutions can have on businesses, especially in relation to their finances and reputation. She aims to do everything she can to protect the interests of her clients.
Sahar is looking forward to continuing to learn about the construction industry through connecting with NAWIC members and is always happy to discuss and advise if you have any legal issues.
Caroline Airson - Yorkshire Lead
Caroline is an ecologist working as a Senior Consultant for Surface Property in their York Office. Having worked in the construction and property industry for over 7 years she has worked with major contractors, developers, architects and consultants in an advisory role on environmental issues. Prior to getting in to the construction sector Caroline worked in conservation for the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust, National Trust and Scottish Wildlife Trust looking after Nature Reserves up and down the country.
Caroline’s work takes her all over the country but as an adopted Yorkshire-woman Caroline is keen to develop a platform for networking and skills development in the Yorkshire Region. She is really looking forward to connecting with all the like-minded men and women of Yorkshire (and the north-west) to make the construction industry a thriving place for new talent.
Becky Smith - Treasurer & External Membership Co-ordinator
Becky is a professional trainer with more than 10 years sales and leadership experience in a variety of roles at Hilti GB Ltd.
Becky understands how important it is to engage employees and is instrumental in the delivery of developmental training at Hilti.
Through her various roles she has seen what opportunities there are for more diversity in the construction industry and is keen to promote NAWIC and gain more connections through networking events & seminars.
